The Rees Labor Government’s decision to reduce State infrastructure levies to cut the cost of developing land in north west and south west Sydney, covering West Dapto but not Wollongong, fails to take account of the desperate need to stimulate construction in Wollongong City and recession-proof jobs in the Illawarra, Shadow Minister for the Illawarra Greg Pearce said today. 

Today’s headline news that hackers penetrated the Department of Commerce’s web security possibly stealing the details of thousands of jobseekers is further distressing evidence that the Rees Labor Government lacks the political willingness and competence to manage New South Wales, Shadow Minister for Financial Management Greg Pearce said today. 

“Today’s unemployment figures showing NSW’s unemployment continues to be well above the rest of Australia at 5.2% (4.5% nationally) should instil a sense of urgency in the State government to get on with measures to help business and retain jobs in the State” Shadow Minister for Financial Management, Housing Strategy and Industrial Relations, Greg Pearce, said today.
